On January 19, the World Press Briefing and the World Broadcasters Meeting of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 (the Games) opened in Sanya. The two-day event brought together more than 100 media organisations and broadcasting institutions representatives from Bahrain, the Czech Republic, Italy, Finland, France, Argentina, and other countries and regions, as well as from across China, to jointly map out global publicity and broadcast plans for Asia’s premier beach sports event.
At the meetings, the Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (SABGOC) and the Host Broadcaster provided comprehensive briefings on key areas of Games-time operations, including media services, competition schedules, venue construction, arrivals and departures, broadcast policies, signal transmission, and production plans. They also responded to questions and concerns raised by participating media and rights-holding broadcasters.
During the programme, SABGOC also arranged venue inspections and city tours for the delegates. Participants visited Yasha Park, the competition venues for beach volleyball, sport climbing, and beach handball, and the Main Media Centre. While examining on-site broadcast camera positions, signal transmission facilities, and media working areas, they gained a detailed understanding of the venues’ innovative technologies and green, low-carbon operational concepts.
The visits also allowed them to experience first-hand the atmosphere of Games preparations and the distinctive coastal character of Sanya, providing rich material for future coverage.
With the convening of the World Press Briefing and the World Broadcasters Meeting, preparations for media operations and international broadcasting of the Sanya 2026 have entered a crucial sprint phase. These efforts will help deliver a beach sports spectacle to global audiences, defined by fashion, sustainability, technology, and vitality, and bring to life the Games’ vision of “Connecting Asia, Engaging the World.”
