China Adds Seven Golds in a Day at Sanya 2026, with Hainan Athletes Leading the Charge

On 28 April, the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 (Sanya 2026) continued, with China excelling by securing seven gold medals in sailing and sport climbing.

During the morning sailing events, China showed strong dominance by winning five golds, two silvers, and two bronzes, leading both the gold medal count and the overall medal tally in the discipline.

Sailing at Sanya 2026 includes four categories, OP, ILCA4, foil windsurfing, and formula kite, across eight events for both men and women.

In the girls’ OP final, Hainan athlete Cheng Wenyu delivered an exceptional performance, winning eight of the ten races to earn the gold medal.

Wang Yiguo, another athlete from Hainan, excelled in the boys’ foil windsurfing event, securing gold by winning ten out of thirteen races.

In the girls’ foil windsurfing event, China’s Chen Yimin also took gold.

In the formula kite events, China’s Ma Zilin took gold and Li Shuxuan earned silver in the women’s competition.

Yan Guoguo claimed gold in the women’s ILCA4 event, securing China’s fifth sailing gold medal at Sanya 2026.

Later that evening, in the sport climbing speed finals, China’s Zhao Yicheng won gold in the men’s event, while Zhou Yafei took gold in the women’s competition

Deng Lijuan and Zhang Shaoqin won silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the women’s speed event.

Earlier that day, Zhao Yicheng broke the men’s speed qualification record with a time of 4.58 seconds, beating the former record of 4.64 seconds held by American athlete Sam Watson.
