Hainan’s first self-service sales tax refund terminal was officially launched at MixC Shopping Mall in Haikou. According to shoppers from overseas, the entire process, from scanning the code for verification and entering required information to the refund being processed and funds issued, takes only about 3 minutes.
During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Hainan welcomed a significant increase in inbound travelers and international card transactions, leading to an urgent need for convenient sales tax refunds for overseas travelers. In response, the Hainan Branch of the Bank of Communications officially launched Hainan Province's first self-service sales tax refund terminal at MixC Shopping Mall in Haikou, improving the international service system of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The terminal is equipped with multilingual interfaces including English, Russian, and Korean, allowing overseas travelers to complete the scanning verification and information entry process quickly and easily. As a result, tax refunds are processed and issued in as little as three minutes. The system simplifies tax refund processing procedures, improving tax refund efficiency and helping to create an international consumer service environment.
A traveler from South Korea commented that the tax refund terminal offers a user-friendly Korean language interface. There is no need for translation or waiting in line, unlike previous tax refund procedures.
A representative from the Hainan branch of Bank of Communications stated that the branch plans to continue optimizing international financial services, promoting the implementation of more convenient measures, and supporting the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port through high-quality financial services.
