On Dec. 7, the four day long 28th China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair for Tropical Agricultural Products 2025 concluded at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center.

This year's fair, themed "Gathering High-Quality Agricultural Products and Sharing Free Trade Opportunities," offered attendees plenty of interesting highlights, such as exhibits from a total of 16 countries, including the first-ever dual guest countries Pakistan and Thailand. Signature products from China State Farm were on display for the first time at the event, and a new tropical specialty tasting and competition area was set up, attracting quite a few excited visitors. A total of sixteen new product launches and eight co-branded product launches were also held at the fair.

Over ten thousand professional buyers made an appearance at the fair, including representatives of more than twenty large agricultural wholesale markets located across China, retail companies such as Hema Fresh and China Resources Vanguard, e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba and JD.com, as well as buyers from Thailand, Bulgaria and other countries, who all came to check out the exhibits and make product purchases. There were a total of over 200,000 attendees, generating on-site transactions of 595.98 million yuan (USD 84 million), including 5.12 million yuan (USD 724,000) in online transactions and 590.85 million yuan (USD 83.45  million) in in-person transactions. This collaborative online and in-person transaction model demonstrated strong market vitality. Total orders placed on-site were valued at almost 1.55 billion yuan (USD 220 million), including 484.75 million yuan (USD 68 million) in contract orders and 1.06 billion yuan (USD 150 million) in letters of intent, with a total signed contract value of 5.17 billion yuan (USD 730 million).

Gao Dongmei, General Manager of Hainan Fengge Industrial Development Company as well as a representative of the local exhibitors, said that her company is focused on bringing high-quality crop varieties into Hainan and supporting organic farming through technology. The company’s passion fruit products have obtained international export certification and have been successfully exported to many countries including Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Gao said she gained a lot from this year's Winter Trade Fair. Her company not only discussed further cooperation with domestic distributors, but also connected with Japan's J&C Company at the exhibition. "Our goal is to produce high-quality products, and in the future, we hope to leverage the free trade port policies to increase international trade and bring Hainan's high-quality agricultural products to the world," added Gao.

Thanks to this year's Winter Trade Fair, exhibitors and buyers from Hainan, from China, and from all across the globe made valuable connections, giving tropical agricultural products a huge boost on their journey from production to market and showing the effectiveness of the event as an international agricultural trade platform. With the Hainan Free Trade Port on the cusp of commencing island-wide special trade operations, the event shone a bright spotlight on Hainan's flourishing tropical high-efficiency agriculture industry, one of the four pillar industries of the FTP.
