Beach Kabaddi

Originating in Asia, beach kabaddi resembles the traditional Chinese game “Eagle Catching Chicks.” It is a contact sport played on a flat, sandy field at least 30 cm deep, without any equipment.

The field measures 11×7 meters for adult men and youth men, 10×6 meters for adult and youth women, and 9×6 meters for junior categories. A center line divides the playing area into two halves.

Each team has four players. A “raider” from the attacking team crosses the center line while continuously chanting “Kabaddi, Kabaddi,” attempting to tag defenders and return safely to their half. The raider earns one point per defender touched, but if they fail to tag anyone, are tackled before returning, or stop chanting, the defending team gains one point.

Beach kabaddi emphasizes agility, lung capacity, coordination, and quick reflexes, making it both physically demanding and thrilling to watch.
