Track and field has ancient origins dating back to 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, making it one of the earliest organized sports. Beach athletics is an innovative adaptation that integrates traditional athletics events with the spirit of beach sports, blending competitiveness and recreation.
Unlike stadium-based track events, beach athletics take place on sandy terrain, demanding greater strength, stability, and endurance. The event is both challenging and highly spectator-friendly, testing athletes’ physical conditioning and mental resilience.
The Sanya 2026 Games will feature five men’s and five women’s events, including 60 m sprint, 4×60 m relay, long jump, high jump, and shot put.
