As the calendar turns and the countdown continues, the opening of the 6th Asian Beach Games (ABG) Sanya 2026 draws ever closer.
Sanya is committed to “elevating the city through a successful game.” At present, the city is firmly advancing all preparatory work as it strives to deliver a grand sporting and cultural event that showcases Asian vitality, Chinese characteristics, Hainan’s charm, and
Sanya’s unique appeal, extending a confident invitation to the world with thorough preparation and warm hospitality.

“Each preparatory task now has a detailed timeline, task list, and progress chart. By implementing project-based management and list-based accountability, we are advancing efficiently to ensure steady daily progress,” explained Du Liyin, Executive Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Office of the Sanya ABG Executive Committee. She also added that the Committee is focusing on competition organization, venue operations, service support, and risk management, working to ensure a safe, smooth, and successful event.

Sanya has now moved ahead with invitations, with the official invites to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of 45 Asian countries and regions aimed at encouraging the broadest possible participation.
Marketing and partnership initiatives have also achieved remarkable results. At the Game's Chengdu Promotion Conference, six companies signaled their firm intention to join hands with Sanya, adding another milestone to the Games’ market development. Meanwhile, the organizing committee has released more than 20 licensed products across eight categories, which debuted during the National Day holiday at five official outlets located in the city's Dadonghai Tourist Area, Luhuitou Scenic Area, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, and the Executive Committee headquarters.

To ensure seamless operations during the Games, Sanya plans to recruit approximately 6,000 volunteers from student bodies and the public. “Even before recruitment officially began, our university launched multiple themed campaigns through the Youth Volunteers Association to drum up interest,” said Li Yutong, a staff member of the Innovation and Practice Management Division of the Communist Youth League Committee at Hainan Tropical Ocean University. “Through faculty recommendations, we have already identified a pool of volunteer candidates with solid English proficiency.”

Following the announcement of the volunteer program, many netizens also expressed their willingness to contribute. One participant from Beijing wrote, “I’ve already signed up as a volunteer for the Games.”
Across the city, a festive atmosphere is taking shape. ABG-themed buses have become a moving landscape on Sanya’s streets. Volunteers are painting themed murals that invite residents and tourists to add their blessings to the Games. Outdoor LED screens and building light shows illuminate the skyline with vibrant ABG imagery, while colorful flag banners flutter in the breeze, infusing every corner of Sanya with the excitement of the upcoming Games.

“Having the Asian Beach Games right here in our hometown is something we’re all so proud of,” said Wang Tangru, a Sanya resident. “I hope this event lets more people discover the fun and excitement of beach sports.”

Garnering public participation and shared enthusiasm, the ABG has the entire city playing in harmony, composing a symphony of unity and celebration. With passion and professionalism, Sanya extends a heartfelt invitation to all of Asia and the world: See you in Sanya in 2026!
