The 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 (Sanya 2026) will include eight competition venues (clusters).
Beach Volleyball, Sport Climbing and Beach Handball venues are located in the Tianya Haijiao Venue Cluster. Beach Soccer, Teqball, Beach Wrestling/Jiu jitsu, Sailing, Aquathlon, Beach Kabaddi and Beach Athletics will be staged along the 22-kilometre Sanya Bay coastline and nearby waters.
The Dragon Boat venue is set on the Sanya River, while the 3x3 Basketball venue and an independent training hall are located at the Sanya Sports Centre. All competition and training venues are within a 30-minute journey from the headquarters hotel and the Athletes Village.
Following the Games, the gymnasium at Sanya Sports Centre will continue to host sporting events and public fitness activities, regularly open to the public and supporting various competitions.
At the Tianya Haijiao Venue Cluster, essential facilities such as the climbing wall and beach volleyball courts will be preserved and accessible to the public, creating a versatile sports and leisure complex that combines fitness, recreation, and training.
Moreover, sections of the Sanya Bay venues will be transformed into public coastal spaces and integrated into the city’s waterfront slow-traffic network. Tourist itineraries will also be created to link these venue sites with the coastal scenery.
By collaborating with both domestic and international sports organisations and travel agencies, themed programs will be implemented to attract sports enthusiasts for ongoing training, fostering a closer integration of tourism and sports.
Natural venues such as the Sanya River dragon boat course will maintain their ecological character after the Games, improving public waterfront spaces and providing locations for leisure activities and environmental education.
Reusable components from temporary venues will be repurposed into community sports facilities, addressing gaps in grassroots fitness infrastructure and ensuring the Games' legacy benefits the public.
Through strategic planning, the venues for Sanya 2026 will evolve from simple event infrastructure into valuable long-term assets that foster the growth of sports and enhance the cultural and tourism sectors, ensuring a lasting legacy of the Games.
