At 7 a.m. on December 28, the 2025 Hainan (Sanya) Marathon kicked off with passion and excitement. The event attracted 14,000 runners from around the world to the coastal city of Sanya. Ya Ya, the mascot of The 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, made a lively appearance, becoming the brightest “cheerleader” along the course and spreading the joyful energy and sporting spirit of Sanya 2026 to every participant.

This year’s marathon featured two race categories — the marathon (42.195 km) and the half-marathon (21.0975 km) — covering multiple groups, including men’s and women’s individual races, marathon team events, and the “Run Together at Tianya” couples’ half-marathon. The event combined elite competition with public participation, fully showcasing the unique charm of Sanya’s scenic “mountain-and-sea” courses.

The event featured celebrity fitness coach Liu Genghong as the Official Cheer Ambassador, leading the crowd through an energetic warm-up. On stage, Liu and Ya Ya interacted seamlessly, dancing joyfully together. Meanwhile, below the stage, thousands of runners moved to the rhythm, filling the venue with laughter, cheers, and excitement, creating a sea of joy.

After the warm-up, Ya Ya moved to the starting area, cheering on the runners and sending best wishes from the Sanya Asian Beach Games. Many participants eagerly reached out to interact and take photos with the mascot, as the lively and heartwarming atmosphere spread throughout the entire course.

“The climate in Sanya is so comfortable, and the scenery along the route is stunning. The atmosphere here is amazing!” said Wu Qiong, a runner from Beijing. “Sanya is a vibrant tropical coastal city that’s perfect for all kinds of sports. I’m really looking forward to the Asian Beach Games next year. I’m sure the events will be even more exciting.”
